Working Process
Having been a primary school teacher for over 30 years , I have a lot of experience of working with a range of materials. However, since studying at Arts Universtity Bournemouth, I have become particularly interested in making collages using mixed media, with an emphasis on sourcing materials from the recycling bin!

I get as much pleasure from 'making' as I do from producing a finished illustration, benefitting from the positive impact of creativity on my wellbeing. The joy of being a 'maker' is the main focus of my collage workshops, which I deliver through the Hampshire Cultural Trust's 'Brighter Futures' programme.
The challenge of exploring what can be created, with readily available and inexpensive resources, can be cathartic, exciting and unpredictable.

Inspiration often comes from an event, encounter or memory - all of which are associated with 'good things'. I collect photos, make sketches, test out textures and colours before deciding on a composition which usually evolves on the paper. Tacky-back comes in very useful! Finally, Photoshop is used to add that little bit extra.
Engaging with community projects is also an important part of my practice.
